Zeluu is a learning companion for children — math first, with more subjects on the way. Below is a plain-language summary of how we keep children safe and protect their privacy. Items marked Available now are live in the product today; items marked Coming soon are planned and in progress.
1. We teach — we don't do the homework
Zeluu is built to guide children to the answer, not hand it over. The tutor works through hints and step-by-step questions, and only reveals more when a child has genuinely tried — so children build understanding instead of copying a solution. Available now
2. Every conversation is safety-checked
Zeluu layers several protections around each chat: Available now
- Prompt-safety filtering — attempts to misuse the tutor or pull it off-topic are blocked.
- Distress detection — if a child expresses they may be upset or unsafe, Zeluu responds gently, encourages them to talk to a trusted grown-up, and records a flag for the parent.
- Personal-information detection — Zeluu never asks for personal details, and if a child shares them, it redirects and flags it for the parent.
- Stuck-loop detection — if a child is stuck for a while, the parent is notified.
- Safe display — everything the AI produces is shown as plain, escaped text, so content can never run code in the child's browser.
3. You're always in the loop
- Parent-controlled accounts — children use an account a parent sets up; the child app has no payment screens. Available now
- In-app safety alerts — flagged moments appear in the parent's notifications. Available now
- Instant email alerts on flagged content. Coming soon
- Weekly progress digest by email — time spent, subjects practised, and any flags. Coming soon
4. Your child's data is isolated
Each child's information is separated at the database level, so one family's data is never visible to another. Sessions belong to the parent account, and the child app cannot access billing or other families' data. Available now
5. Privacy by design
- Zeluu never asks a child's age directly — it uses the grade level a parent provides.
- We do not use urgency, guilt, or social-pressure ("dark pattern") techniques on children.
- We collect as little as possible and default to high privacy.
See our full Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and why. Available now
6. Built with children's regulations in mind
Zeluu is designed around children's-privacy principles, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the UK's Age-Appropriate Design Code ("Children's Code") — parental control, privacy-by-default, and data minimization. Our verifiable parental-consent process is being finalized with legal review. In review
